Four years ago, Team Evolution were tasked by The Winter Sports Foundation to help increase participation in skiing for those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the sport. From this objective, the WSF Pipeline Project was born and since then we have been working together with local schools, offering free ski lessons to students from ages 12 – 16 years old, providing the opportunity to take part in a sport that they wouldn’t usually be able to access.

The end goal of this project was not only to teach pupils a new skill and connect them with a new sport, but for each of the students to reach the standard whereby they were capable of representing their school in a regional school’s competition to mark the end of the process. In order to achieve this, Team Evolution created a structured weekly programme ensuring students progressed at the correct rate, from learning the fundamentals of the sport through to taking part in their first race on an artificial slope.

The Winter Sports Foundation was set up to help increase participation in all winter sports, and make them available to as many people as possible, no matter what their background and we are proud that through our partnership we have given countless more children the opportunity to experience alpine ski racing. The Pipeline Project provides the opportunity for them to experience competition in a completely new environment, make new friends, and, by the end of the project, have the freedom to go to their local artificial slope and practice the sport, without the worry of having to pay for additional tuition.
